DC-WAHM stands for Dawson Creek Work at Home Moms (and Women!) and has been created in hopes to help Advertise and Promote your local Home Based (at home) businesses.
In today’s day, there are numerous ways an individual can advertise and promote their businesses, but the financial expenses these require from us are not always something we can afford being a small home based business.
An introduction to our main Purpose
It is our intention (as a community at whole) to provide accurate information pertaining to local Home Based Business Listings; as well educational information to assist with starting and operating (as well maintaining) your home based businesses.
Our long term goals with this website
Is to become a reliable and safe place for local Dawson Creek residents to browse and submit local home based businesses. Keeping our shopping local can and will help our community grow. We hope to become a reliable resource in its growth.

How you can support the DC-WAHM Website
There are numerous ways in which an individual can help support the growth of this website. Some of these (although not limited to) ways are to Volunteer your time to help Monitor / Moderate message boards and business submissions.
Other ways to help include: Spreading the Word to others, Submitting your Business Listings so there are more available resources, and of course there is always Shopping within the local listings. (learn how you can help!)
How we intend to Advertise and Promote
Word of Mouth Advertisement
It’s a catchy-easy to remember name (and URL) – DCWAHM.
Whether they type in .COM or .CA they’ll be redirected to the website. Search the name on Google (or alike) and you will find us immediately. We’re everywhere and it’s through your word-of-mouth advertisement that we keep finding new and returning visitors!
We also have available, if interested, Banners, Buttons and Icons that can be used on your own websites to help promote DC-WAHM and your listings. If there is a need for a specific sized banner we have not made available, simply request one from us and we’d be honoured to make one up for your use.
Search Engine Optimization
More commonly known as SEO (Search Engine Optimization) and SEF (Search Engine Friendly), this basically means our website has been specifically designed to return top results to Search Engines when keywords and terms are searched on Google and other search engines.
Each business submission found on DC-WAHM has been optimized for ultimate Search Results using keywords that are relative to both you and your business. This enhances the likelihood of someone finding you when searching related or similar keywords and interests on Search Engines.
This means we’re able to target more than just our local community, but also potentially shoppers from around the world – this is great!

We are available on both Facebook and Twitter where we actively provide updates on new business listings, updates, site maintenance and announcements.
It is strongly encouraged that you join in on our Social pages to keep up with the most recent news and updates related to the site.
Local Print and Newspapers
Periodically (as funds permit) DC-WAHM will promote with ads in the local newspaper and community fliers.
To this date (May 15, 2010) we have had 7 appearances in both the Dawson Creek Daily News and The Weekly Mirror (since October 5, 2009).
